Klein Forest High School Named a State School of Character

Congratulations to the Klein Forest Golden Eagles who were named a 2018 State School of Character by! They are one of only 65 schools in the nation recognized and the only high school in the state of Texas. In addition, Klein Forest is one of only five high schools nationally recognized.

Students at Klein Forest have taken their character program to the next level by following five core values, be the legacy, live the golden rule, practice mindfulness, embrace diversity, and radiate school spirit. Today, those core values took the school to another level.

The process began three years ago with a committee of Klein Forest staff, students, and community members creating core values which laid the foundation for the program. The next year, an additional core value was added to include diversity, and they began focusing on how they wanted those values to look on the campus. Character education lessons were developed and made a priority so that students were able to maximize their learning and make the values intentional, which paid off when they were named a School of Promising Practices for the 2017–18 school year.

“What I like best about Klein Forest is the environment,” said Klein Forest junior, Trevon. “We are a big school with people from different walks of life, and yet we still come together, interact, and build these unimaginable bonds that last a lifetime.”

Each year, and its state affiliates select schools and districts that demonstrate a dedicated focus on character development that has a true and positive impact on academic achievement, student behavior, and school climate.

Klein Forest will hold this distinction and honor for three years. The award also makes the campus eligible for the national recognition to be announced later this year.
