We would like to congratulate Klein High School’s Emily Cole for successfully leveling up in the Official SAT Practice Student Ambassador Program from Acorn Level to Gold Leaf with Distinction!
A review committee of College Board staff, Khan Academy staff, and educators from across the country read and ranked the submitted nomination and they were very inspired by everything Emily accomplished. Her endeavors included organizing a school-wide Practice SAT test day with study groups from Klein High and Klein Forest High, running a social media campaign on Twitter and addressing countless students about College & Career Readiness. She was just one of 16 students nationwide who has received this honor, and just one of two who has been selected to receive the honor with distinction.
This equipped scholar and forever learner also set out to improve her already high SAT score of 1400 with Khan Academy and succeeded! After spending 21 hours practicing for the SAT, Emily improved her score to a 1550 and received a perfect score on her Essay! She has been able to testify first-hand how Khan can help students. She recently had the opportunity to share her experience as an Ambassador to counselors and higher education personnel at the Texas Association for College Admissions Counseling Annual Conference in Galveston, Tx.
Dr. Champion and Dr. McGown honored Emily Cole with a #KleinPartyPopperMoment last week. Emily was beyond excited and grateful.
Emily, along with Mrs. Debbie Pennington will lead the 2018–2019 OSP Student Ambassadors. Plans are already in the works as to what college readiness goals they will accomplish to impact the learners in Klein ISD.
