Flipgrid Fever is in Full Effect!

Welcome back, teachers! As you are preparing for your students to enter your classroom this year, you want to make sure you have all the tools to encourage our learners to communicate and collaborate. This is where Flipgrid comes in! This summer the digital tool Flipgrid became free for all teachers! Flipgrid is a website that allows teachers to create discussion-style questions for students to respond using video responses. Students who don’t usually respond in class may surprise you by what they say in their video responses. Flipgrid is all about amplifying student voice!

How can I use Flipgrid in my classroom?

  • First Day Family Messages: Share a grid with your students’ families to record a “good luck” message that you can show throughout the first day of school.
  • Student Created Math Problems: Students create math problems and encourage their classmates to watch and solve. Their peers can then reply with their answer and how they solved it.
  • Book Trailers: Students create a book trailer to advertise their favorite book.

As Holly Clark, author of The Google Infused Classroom, said, “In 2018, if you are not hearing from every student, every day you are doing something wrong!” So let’s make this year about student voice! Have a wonderful start to the 2018-2019 school year!
