When deciding where to begin her career as an educator, Lindsey Merrbach didn’t have to search very far.
Merrbach, a fourth-grade teacher at Mahaffey Elementary, says her time as a student in Klein ISD and her mother’s career fueled her desire to return home.
“My mom has worked for Klein ISD for over 20 years,” Merrbach said. “Watching her work in Klein ISD, I fell in love with the way they treated her like family and that’s what I want to be surrounded by.”
After graduating Klein Oak High School in 2005, Merrbach attended The University of Texas. She began her educational career as a teacher at Mueller Elementary, where she taught for eight years and was named the school’s 2014 Teacher of the Year.
Klein ISD Board member Cathy Arellano praises Lindsey for her dedication to Klein ISD’s vision of every student entering with a promise and exiting with a purpose.
“She’s an innovative teacher who strives to embrace every student and develop their own creativity,” Arellano said.
Lindsey says the teachers she had during her time as a Klein ISD student helped her become the educator she is today.
“I hope to show my students they’re supported and cared for just like my teachers at Northampton, Hildebrandt and Klein Oak did for me,” Merrbach said. “Klein ISD is a family that I am honored to be a part of.”
