Congratulations to 15 Klein ISD students who earned a spot in the Texas Music Educators Association All-State Ensemble.

Nearly 100,000 Texas students start the selection process to perform at the TMEA All-State Ensemble with just over 1,700 students chosen to perform in one of 15 ensembles.

These students represent less than 1.8% of the students who begin the tryout process and approximately 0.2% of students enrolled in a high school music class.

The following students will begin rehearsals and final chair placement for some organizations in San Antonio on February 13 culminating with performances throughout the day of Saturday, February 16 to bring the annual TMEA convention to a close.

Samson Broten was selected as first chair tenor trombone for the TMEA Jazz Ensemble I. Samson will be returning to TMEA a second time along with Victoria Tonfeldt and Jasmine Vonk. Rebecca Walsh, Andres Ayerbe, Jason Kim, and Damyan Pavlovic are three-year TMEA All-Staters.

If you don’t think that there is any correlation between musical and academic success, here are some numbers for you.

The average SAT score for a TMEA All-State Student over the last five years is 1859.2. That number is 458 points higher than the national SAT average and 518 points higher than the Texas SAT average. These students are talented, well-rounded, and exemplary Promise2Purpose forever learners.

Let’s give a standing ovation for our TMEA All-State students for seeking opportunities to improve and grow, setting ambitious goals, and achieving them!
