90 Seconds: Black History Month, Klein in Space, Spring Open Houses

Can you believe it’s almost February? February is Black History month, and throughout the month we’ll honor the incredible achievements of African Americans in our nation’s history. We’ll share articles written by our educators, host “book talks” on Twitter celebrating our community’s rich cultural diversity, and enjoy lessons and programs on campuses throughout Klein ISD highlighting the many contributions and sacrifices made for all.

Congratulations to our Klein in Space winners! Team MAJAH from Schultz Elementary and Team Spaceship from Lemm Elementary took the top spots for the kindergarten through 4th grade round of the innovation challenge. Their mission was to decide what they would take to Mars so they can successfully build a community when they arrive. Teams MAJAH and Spaceship will present their designs to our Board of Trustees, and get to continue their learning at Space Center Houston. Congratulations to all our Klein in Space teams on a job well done!

February also means it’s time for Spring open houses for many of our campuses. Many of you attended open houses at your child’s campus last fall, but it’s just as important to attend in the spring because it’s a chance for our students to show off the wonderful work they’ve been doing since the beginning of the year. Open house dates and times vary at our campuses throughout the district. Visit kisd.us/openhouse for information.
