Over 300 elementary and intermediate students participated in the district’s annual Name That Book event, and the competition was fierce! Throughout the fall semester, student teams prepared by reading and analyzing 25 books to be able to identify related quotes. These students’ hard work and dedication led to the most competitive event to date in Name That Book history.

30 campus teams, nearly three times the number from last year, participated in the elementary competition. Brill’s Brilliant Broncos won first place with a perfect score of 30, a first in Name That Book’s seven-year history! French’s Book Patrol came in as runner up with 29 points. Three campuses tied for third place, another first in Name That Book history, with 28 points — Frank’s Runaway Reading Rockets, Hassler’s Word Warriors, and Theiss’ Bibliomaniacs.

Students in grades 6-8 competed in the first ever intermediate event and represented all 10 campuses. Tied scores among the teams forced an overtime round to determine third place winners, the Kleb Bearcubs. The Hofius Hawks Hyped for Hardcovers and Krimmel Knights faced off in a sudden death round with Krimmel placing second and Hofius being named the first Name That Book Intermediate champion.

Congratulations to EVERY student who demonstrated their amazing sportsmanship and shared their love of reading! See #KleinNTB for tweets about this event.
