Board Meeting & Good Luck, Golden Eagles! | 90 Seconds

The March Board of Trustees meeting was full of celebrations!

We saluted the out of this world winning teams from the Klein in Space Innovation Challenge. These pathway explorers used their critical thinking skills to conquer this innovation challenge. Team Micro-Ji from Klein High School developed an experiment which will be sent to the International Space Station to be conducted in a microgravity environment. Team Micro-Ji will travel to Cape Canaveral to watch their experiment blast off! In the Kindergarten through 4th grade challenge, team Majah from Schultz Elementary and Team Spaceship from Lemm Elementary earned the top spots by determining what to bring to Mars in order to successfully establish a colony there.  They will take a trip to Space Center Houston where they can build their space exploration knowledge. Congratulations teams Micro-Ji and Majah! We can’t wait to hear about your experiences at Space Center Houston and Cape Canaveral!

The Board also recognized students and teachers from Haude Elementary and Hofius Intermediate schools for their outstanding work in and out of the classroom.

Emily Abston Morgan, a Klein High School graduate, was recognized as the Klein ISD Alumnus of the Month.

Our finance team was awarded the meritorious budget award from the Association of School Business Officials International for their commitment to being excellent stewards of your taxpayer dollars.

S & V Surveying was honored as the Stand Up for Texas Public Schools award winner for March. These Promise2Purpose investors give so much to Klein ISD students. Even going as far as helping our Teaching & Learning Team create the first-of-its-kind in the state, Geospatial Engineering and Land Surveying pathway. They recently hosted a job shadow day where students were able to work side by side with geospatial engineers and land surveyors. Thank You, S & V Surveying for going the extra mile for Klein ISD students.

Among the business items taking place during last night’s meeting, the Board approved project initiation for elementary school safety improvements and sound enhancement projects.

And finally, a HUGE shout out to the Klein Forest Men’s Basketball team! Over the weekend, they defeated South Garland to move on to the UIL state semifinals this Friday in San Antonio. Good luck, Golden Eagles!
