KISD Pentathlon: Klein Intermediate Takes First Place!
After a rigorous day with five challenging events, every campus had a student medalist, and the talent of Klein ISD students was apparent once again. In 8th grade, Klein Intermediate placed first overall! Strack received both third and second places, and Individual winners in their 8th grade divisions were Kai Roberts (Strack), Suzanna Martinez (Klein) and Fagun Shah (Krimmel).
In 7th grade, Strack took home both second and first places and Krimmel placed third! Individual awards went to Sophia Luna (Strack), Natalie Horbury (Strack), and Meara O’Neill (Strack) for first place overall in their 7th grade divisions.
This year 7th and 8th grade students on Academic Pentathlon Teams across the district have been studying the 1960s to prepare for the district competition. At this event, they compete in five subjects including Social Science, Science, Fine Arts, Literature and Math. This year’s theme lead them to learn about presidents, politics, protests, the science of light, American pop culture, art and music from the 60s, algebra, trigonometry, and a study of the novel, The Revolution of Evelyn Serrano by Sonia Manzano.
All the credit for this successful event goes to the students who worked tirelessly to prepare, and the coaches who dedicated their time to support them. Congratulations to all who participated!
