After our full year implementation of standards-based grading, and reviewing feedback from the evaluation from teachers and parents, we are excited about the upcoming improvements to the standards-based report cards and the aligned teaching rubrics.
Check out our improved report cards, which eliminate element tables and add more “parent-friendly” standards:

- Click HERE FOR 1ST GRADE
- Click HERE FOR 2nd GRADE
- New scale to be used to evaluate mastery: Click HERE FOR THE NEW SCALE. This will replace the “Y” and “–” that we currently use.
- Improved rubrics that match the scale to define mastery and the progression to mastery. See a DRAFT 1st GRADE MATH RUBRIC.
The final report card, along with Quarter 1 rubrics for all four content areas, will be available to preview and plan on May 30th through our KleinQuest Standards-Based Grading Link. This will allow you time this summer through professional learning to acclimate yourself to these improvements for next school year.
When you return in August, the KleinQuest site will be restocked under the Resources section with informative tools to help you articulate standards-based grading to families. We will share a slide deck that you can show families at an open house, a pamphlet to provide to families with information about the benefits of standards-based grading and where to locate resources on the Klein ISD website.
For the 2019-2020 school year, the PreK report card standards, scale and rubrics will remain the same. The Refresh process for PreK will begin Fall 2019 and will follow the same format as all other content areas.
As always, if you have any questions, or need support, we are here to serve you! Please reach out to Dayna Hernandez: email@example.com. Thank you for your continued investment of Reimagining Learning for our youngest students entering with a promise in Klein ISD!
