Klein ISD Education Foundation Hosts Inaugural Klein Nation Alumni Event

Klein ISD Education Foundation Hosts Inaugural Klein Nation Alumni Event

Over the weekend, Klein Family of the past and present gathered at Klein Memorial Stadium for the inaugural Fill the Stadium Event hosted by the Klein Education Foundation.

“We wanted to get all of the Klein alumni from all of our high schools together in one place at one time so we can promote the family environment of Klein ISD,” Klein Education Foundation President Bill Lakin said.

Surrounded by drumline, cheerleaders, mascots, and sunshine, alumni reminisced about their days in Klein and got the inside scoop on our ever-growing district. Jim McDougal was thrilled to attend with his wife, Cheryl, as they graduated from Klein High School (when it was the only high school in the district!) and have enjoyed watching the district grow and change over time.

Board Members from the Klein ISD Education Foundation helped alumni sign up for Alumni Nation at the event.

“I had several great memories from Klein, but the best one was being part of the speech and debate team,” Jim said. “It was a lot of fun, but more than that, it was good preparation for life after high school.”

Imagine Jim’s surprise to learn that Klein High’s speech and debate team was ranked among the top 16 teams around the globe in 2019! The McDougals’ daughters attended Klein Oak High School, which provided the family a perspective of Klein from every different angle – from student, community member, to proud alum, and parent.

“I think Klein is a very forward-focused district and I see a lot of positive changes from when we were in school,” Jim said.

This event marked the official launch of Klein Nation – Alumni Relations, a force we know will be strong for decades to come.

“I enjoyed seeing our outstanding alum,” Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. “We are all so proud to call Klein home and be part of the awesome Klein Family.”
