Klein ISD Honors Veterans and Active Duty Military Personnel

Klein ISD Honors Veterans and Active Duty Military Personnel

This morning, we honored and recognized our Klein community Veterans and active duty military personnel at our Veterans Day Breakfast and Pass in Review Ceremony.

Young men and women from the Klein community have served in every war and conflict since the area was settled. It is our privilege to personally celebrate and express great gratitude for their service and sacrifice.

“As Superintendent of Schools, I want you to know how proud I am to be an American and how grateful I am for your service and sacrifice for our great nation,” Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. “We will all continue to work in Klein ISD to honor your legacy, lift up and celebrate the United States of America and instill in EVERY student gratitude for our country and all who have and who continue to sacrifice to keep the United States the land of the free and the home of the brave.”

We also took a special moment to thank the Veterans who fought for our country that now work across this district that we all love so deeply.

“It feels very good to be honored here today,” U.S. Army Veteran, Purple Heart Recipient, and Klein ISD Maintenance personnel Harold Pevateaux said. “So many veterans work in the district, and we’re just a big family here supporting one another.”

Harris County Commissioner Jack Cagle, Pct. 4 was in attendance and presented Klein ISD Board of Trustees Vice President Rick Mann with a proclamation for his service in the military and the students in Klein.

“Thank you for serving our country in the U.S. Air Force,” Commissioner Cagle said. “And for your 28 years of service on the Klein ISD Board of Trustees. This November 11, 2019, is your day.”

Between the Kleb Chamber Choir singing the National Anthem and the tables decorated with handmade cards and artwork from students across the district, the Kleb cafeteria was filled with smiling faces as our Veterans realized the pride our Klein Family has in them.

“It’s important to celebrate Veterans Day because it honors what they did for our country,” sixth-grader Haley Gette said.

Immediately following the breakfast, Air Force Junior ROTC Unit TX-20005 of Klein High School hosted the Nineteenth Annual Junior ROTC Veterans Day Ceremony at Klein Memorial Stadium. Each of the five Klein ISD high schools was represented by their esteemed JROTC cadets in the 2019 Pass in Review.

Pass in Review is a long-standing military tradition that gives a new commander the chance to review the military discipline of their troops.

“Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to appreciate and honor you in this fashion,” Klein High Principal Jessica Haddox said. “Our fine Junior ROTC cadets are just a small example of those you have influenced with your service to this country, and we hope that our cadets give you a sense of confidence in our future as you witness the pride and patriotism they display.”

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts to the many folks who helped make Veterans Day a special and memorable day. We would not have been able to honor those who deserve the most recognition without each and every single one of you.
