You’re Invited: Come Celebrate 5 Years of the STEAM Express with Klein ISD

Education doesn’t stand still in Klein! The Klein ISD Education Foundation invites you to celebrate five wonderful years of the STEAM Express, on November 14 at the Klein Multipurpose Center from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

The STEAM Express is our infamous trailer-turned-mobile classroom concept. It was donated to Klein ISD by the Klein ISD Education Foundation in 2014.

“It has been absolutely amazing to see the STEAM Express grow from a thought to reality,” Klein ISD Education Foundation Director Cindy Doyle said. “More than 100 people worked for two years to raise funds, seek donations, and create the custom design.”

PBK, a loyal, long-time partner of The District, helped facilitate group meetings and planning discussions to define goals for the STEAM Express with a project development team comprised of Klein ISD Education Foundation representatives, school administrators, faculty, and district technology and maintenance staff. Ian Powell, Managing Partner with PBK, said it’s hard to believe five years have passed.

“We’re proud to have been a small part of such a significant initiative for the Klein Education Foundation and for Klein ISD,” he said. “Words cannot express the satisfaction we have to know we played a role in helping Klein students have exposure to and see opportunity in STEAM careers.”

Since 2014, the STEAM Express has served more than 105,000 Klein students, teachers, administrators, and community members. As the career field changes, so does the STEAM Express. Visitors will notice that the STEAM Express continuously adapts and modifies the experiences so students can explore new future career choices every time they visit.

“Five years ago, I could have never imagined how the STEAM Express would have impacted so many lives,” STEAM Express Program Coordinator Bill Nebeker said. “I have five years of stories and I know the sky’s the limit.”
