Haude Students and Staff Cultivate a Culture of Literacy

Haude Elementary hosted a Character Parade recently. Students dressed up as some of their favorite book characters to inspire a love and enthusiasm for reading.
By dressing up, students are able to celebrate the characters in the stories they read. Students share a book that they have read or a book that has been read to them with each other by proudly walking around in a parade while holding their chosen book.
“We want to make reading fun for our students,” Haude counselor Erica Coleman said. “One way to do that is an activity like Character Day. We want our students to get excited about reading books, not just for school but for pleasure as well.”
In Klein ISD, we believe that readers are leaders and literacy is an important part of the whole student. Learn more about literacy culture in the classroom.
