US Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus Perform Alongside Students
For the past nine years, Klein ISD has been recognized by the NAMM Foundation as one of the Best Communities for Music Education in the nation for the outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community leaders who make music education part of a well-rounded education.
Recently, Cypress Creek FACE hosted a concert titled “Let Freedom Ring” with the United States Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus at Klein Collins High School. Klein Collins choir, band, and AFJROTC students were given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate.
The U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus are the official musical ambassadors of the Army. The group travels across the country providing free concerts that educate and entertain.
“This concert was different from others I have experienced because of the level that everyone was playing at,” Klein Collins choir student Ethan Cabrera said. “I was blown away by what felt like being in the middle of a movie score. I am proud to say that I have played a part in the great things the U.S. Army Field Band & Soldiers’ Chorus is doing all across the country.”
In the midst of the music and memories, our students may have even discovered a potential military pathway.
I believe the students got to see an entirely different side of the military than what they are accustomed to seeing,” choir director Elizabeth Marks said. “To realize that you can serve your country as a musician opened their eyes to the many possibilities of having a career in the military.”
