Operation Lifeline Winners Announced

Operation Lifeline Winners Announced

For the final portion of our third-annual, award-winning innovation challenge, Operation Lifeline, students traveled to the Harris County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) for Pitch Day.

In addition to pitching their medical pack designs to industry experts, our students were also given a full tour of the OEM. The tour consisted of walking through a day in the life of an OEM employee, seeing first-hand the steps our city takes to prepare for and cope with emergencies, and learning about the four phases of emergency management: preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation.

This experience provided the opportunity for students of all ages to make connections to the real-world application of their learning,” Klein ISD Director of Career and Technical Education Deborah Bronner-Westerduin said. “Very few people get the opportunity to visit a state-of-the-art emergency operations center. Klein ISD is grateful to the staff of the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management who graciously hosted us and to the expert judges who participated in the process.
