Klein ISD was honored as one of only 20 Districts of Distinction in the state at the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) Awards at Moody Gardens Convention Center in Galveston, TX on November 15.
The district received this award in July for our outstanding leadership in promoting the arts in the district and community. Klein ISD Assistant Director of Fine Arts Melinda Jahn was thrilled to receive the award on behalf of the district and our incredible art educators and students.
“When the District of Distinction Award was first announced from TAEA, I realized pretty quickly that we already do a lot of those things anyway,” she said. “We have a very strong fine arts and visual arts program, so it was really just a matter of being a little more mindful and deliberate in tracking some of the things we were already doing.”
This award gives students, teachers, and administrators the district yet another reason to be proud of the arts programs they are a part of as it signifies that Klein is paving the way for visual arts education and implementation.
“Klein ISD has set the standard for visual arts advocacy, integrated visual arts curriculum and creativity,” Chair of the Administration and Supervision Division of the TAEA Dr. Michaelann Kelley said in a press release. “This is a high honor. The award is a testament to the skill, perseverance, and vision for a well-rounded education.”
TAEA is the largest state professional organization for art educators in the United States. It is the mission of TAEA to promote quality visual arts education through leadership, advocacy, service, and professional development.
