McDougle Students and Teachers Master Personalized Learning

Our McDougle Lions are always ready to pounce on any task at hand. Mindful McDougle educators work hard each day to ensure that a personalized learning approach is present in their classrooms.
Second graders in Mrs. Treviño and Mrs. Ocaña’s bilingual classrooms worked diligently on their own, in small groups, and as a class. All of Mrs. Treviño’s students paired up and worked on NearPod, a student engagement platform, to test their knowledge on the day’s grammar lesson.
Across the hall, Mrs. Ocaña pulled several students to a table to work with them on their three-digit math skills, while the rest of her class worked alongside one another in small groups. Mrs. Ocaña personalized learning by forming these small groups based on her students’ individual needs and learning levels.

McDougle Elementary fourth-grade teacher Mrs. Leach works on personalizing learning for her students.
In fourth grade, Ms. Leach was also using differentiation in her personalized learning journey. Her students worked independently and in pairs on Gizmos, a math and science simulation application, while she worked with a few of her students to make sure that they understood the lesson she taught that week.
Some classrooms have co-teachers, like fifth-grade teachers Mrs. Saglime and Mrs. Gleason. While Mrs. Saglime worked on a retest with her group of students, Mrs. Gleason broke down a lesson for a student who learns best one-on-one.
There are only a few weeks before winter break, so you would think that it’s a time of restlessness, but nope – not at McDougle Elementary! Our educators are all about every and it shows through the engaged minds in their classrooms. We are so proud of our teachers and students who continuously show us that we can make big things happen when we focus on Our Shared Vision.
