Elementary #33 Principal Named

Lakita Combs has been named the principal of Klein ISD’s newest elementary scheduled to open in Fall 2020.

“Lakita is a genuinely dedicated educator who is committed to educational excellence for every student,” Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. “Her collaborative spirit and leadership will ensure a legacy of success for the students, families, and staff members of our newest elementary school.”

Lakita has spent her entire educational career in Klein ISD, leading, challenging, nurturing, and growing students. She began as a second grade teacher at Schultz and Metzler Elementary Schools before serving as a mathematics and science instructional specialist, the District Math and Science Program Coordinator, and assistant principal at Metzler Elementary for five years before leading the campus as principal for an additional four years.

Under her leadership, Metzler Elementary was recognized as one of three International Success Stories in the world for their success with Visible Learning. She knows that her professional and personal experience will allow her to serve the Elementary #33 community well.

“I’m so excited to begin my 25th year in education by serving as the principal of Elementary #33,” Lakita said. “I look forward to working with the students and families of this extraordinary community.”

She has a steadfast commitment to maximizing individual student performance, inspiring innovation and students’ interest in technology, and creating forever learners. As a mother of a Klein Collins Tiger, she is also dedicated to family involvement in school culture, climate, communication, and student achievement.

Lakita is looking forward to serving the future students, staff, and community of Elementary #33 and knows that it will be an exciting and fulfilling journey.

Elementary #33 is located off of Spring Stuebner Road and Frassati Way. The campus was designed by students, for students so it is sure to excite and engage. It will be a fun learning environment that will feature flexible learning spaces, secure-entry doors throughout the building, and an outdoor educational center.
