Fuchs Family Honored with Naming of Fox Elementary

Fuchs Family Honored with Naming of Fox Elementary

The Klein ISD Board of Trustees officially named Elementary 33 as Fox Elementary at the Feb. 10, 2020 Board meeting.

“The District is so pleased to honor the Fuchs family and their generational legacy in our Klein community by naming our newest elementary school Fox Elementary,” Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said.

The land Fox Elementary was built on was owned by the Fuchs family for generations. The Fuchs used the land as a pasture for dairy cows, and the whole family participated in the family business. Prior to the creation of Rural High School District No. 1 in 1928, there was a Fuchs School serving the Klein community located west of SH 249 near Grant & Jones Road.

“I feel that our parents would be pleased to know that a school now resides on the former home and farmland,” Judy Fuchs-Flores said. “This is such a positive thing for the Klein community and makes the Fuchs family proud.”

Fox Elementary, funded by the community’s overwhelming support of the 2015 Bond, opens to students in Fall 2020. Classes at Fox will be infused with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) curriculum throughout all grades. Fox Elementary Principal Lakita Combs, who was named principal in January 2020, is excited to get started.

“I am truly humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve as the principal of Fox Elementary,” Combs said. “I look forward to meeting the students and families of this extraordinary community and to get started on our exciting, STEAM-tastic journey designed to bring out the innovator, problem solver, and critical thinker in every student.”
