Diving Deeper with Seesaw
Seesaw is a PreK through the 12th-grade app that teachers can use for student engagement. This app can empower students to create, reflect, share, and collaborate. I love that students can record their voices with their work for reflections. This app is also a great way for students to prepare for TELPAS. As Seesaw is a digital portfolio, this app allows you to understand your student’s strengths and areas for growth over time so that you can differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all your students.
Seesaw is a great app that:
- Gives All students voice
- Makes thinking visible
- Creates ownership in learning, builds reflections, supports creation
- Provides authentic audience and feedback
Below you can see some of the features in Seesaw that you will love! All are available in the free version except for multipage and drafts. They can also annotate on PDFs if they are only one page in the free version.
Teachers can set up a class by going to app.seesaw.me and creating an account. Make sure that you sign in with your Klein Google account when you set this up. Students can access Seesaw either by QR codes, or they can enter a code that you give when you are ready for them to join.
Seesaw also has an activity library that is available with thousands of engaging activities that have been created by teachers. You can search for activities by grade level, subject, and keywords.
Want to know more about how to use this wonderful tool? Please watch the webinar on Seesaw that I gave in our Digital Learning group in Workplace by going to this link. Feel free to join the Digital Learning group so that you can see all the Webinar Wednesdays that we have offered this year. If you have not signed into Workplace before, you will sign in the same way that you sign in to your computer. Access the slideshow from the webinar here. There are links in the slideshow with student video examples that were created in Seesaw. The slideshow also contains links to resources that will help you get started.
Another great way to learn about Seesaw is YouTube. If you go to YouTube and do a search for “PD in your PJs – Seesaw”, you will find lots of videos for your grade level.
Seesaw is a wonderful tool that provides a way of increasing student engagement and personalized learning. The possibilities are endless.
