Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Horticulture Photography Competition 2020

From livestock and horse show competitions to painting and sculpting, there is something for everyone at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The Horticulture division includes a photography contest, open to Texas residents between 8 and 18 years of age. Each year the rodeo committee determines a theme and photographic submissions must be representative of the theme. The artwork should not prominently feature people and include plant material. This year’s theme is Hometown.

The first round of judging narrows the number of entries to fifty. The second round of judging will determine the top ten award recipients. This year, Klein Collins photography had two top ten finalists and was the only school with multiple award recipients! Both photographic artists are students of Chad Hardin. Placing 10th with a cash award of $100 is Jocelyn Mondragon for her photograph, Sweet Nature. In 3rd place is Mahirah Khan. Her photograph, Desert Life, will receive a $500 cash award and a rodeo trophy. The awards ceremony will be held Sunday, March 8th, at 6 pm at NRG.

Congratulations to these talented students and their teacher!
