Klein ISD Senior Scholar Spotlight – #3

We are so proud of our Klein ISD Class of 2020! Students at each of our five high schools are accomplishing amazing things and chasing their dreams.

As we draw closer to the end of the 2019-2020 school year, we wanted to take this opportunity to introduce our Klein Family to some of our high-achieving seniors that are not only graduating in the top 10 percent of their class but are also leaving behind a strong legacy!

Klein High Senior Scholar Spotlight – Jasmine Vonk

Klein High School Salutatorian Jasmine Vonk was a highly-involved student throughout her time in Klein.

During her time in Klein, Jasmine was involved in the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Interact, DECA, HOSA, and Student Council. She held leadership roles in these organizations and participated in many community outreach events with them.

“The greatness of Klein is not simply accolades or success,” she said. “It’s the people, from the teachers working tirelessly to create memorable learning experiences to the friendships that will last a lifetime, all shaping students as both intellectuals and people of character.”

Perhaps most notably, Jasmine also earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Lone Star College simultaneously with her high school diploma. Wow!

We are rooting for you, Jasmine!

Klein Collins Senior Scholar Spotlight – Christian Palma

Klein Collins senior Christian Palma will graduate as the Salutatorian of the Tiger Class of 2020. He has enjoyed reminiscing on his time in Klein and is looking forward to life after Klein.

“I moved to Klein in fourth grade from a series of different schools and school districts,” he said. “Set into a new environment once again, I was a little hesitant and intimidated by the whole situation. However, very quickly, I was welcomed by classmates and teachers. That started an amazing journey in Klein ISD.”

Christian has come a long way from those hesitant days in fourth grade and became highly involved in high school, participating in Latin Club, Texas State Junior Classical League, Choir, Mu Alpha Theta, HOSA, History Club, Philosophy Club, Environmental Club, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and National Latin Honor Society. Wow! To top it off, he also volunteered with many community organizations and held leadership positions within his on-campus organizations.

“In Klein, I was able to expose myself to many subjects, participate in different events to challenge myself, and discover my passions in ways that I otherwise wouldn’t have. I was able to find my strengths, recognize my weaknesses, and eventually make a decision on the path that I want to follow in the future.”

Christian will attend the University of Texas at Austin in the fall to study Public Health. He plans to later apply for pharmacy school.

Klein Collins is proud to call you a Tiger, Christian!
