Klein ISD Nutrition and Food Services Curbside Feeding Update

Even when our school buildings are closed, Klein ISD remains committed to caring for the whole student – this includes teaching and feeding them, too! That’s why we are so thrilled that our curbside meal program has been such a success! 

As the 2019-2020 school year comes to a close, we wanted to provide an update to families regarding this service.

Curbside Meals

To best meet the need of our Klein Family, #KleinCurbside hubs will be open and eager to serve meal kits to our community on Memorial Day (May 25, 2020) and will continue to serve through June 30 at all six of our Curbside Hubs on Mondays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Klein Cain High School – 10201 Spring Cypress Rd, Klein, TX 77070
Wunderlich Intermediate – 11800 Misty Valley Dr, Klein, TX 77066

Who can get a free meal kit? 
Any child under the age of 18 may receive a meal kit. Child must be present to receive a meal kit. Child does not have to be a student in Klein ISD.

What is a Meal Kit?
A Meal Kit includes breakfast and lunch entrees, as well as side and snack items that last multiple days to ensure students have well-balanced meals during school closures.

Monday Meal Kit Meals includes:
3 lunch
3 breakfast
Snack items

Thursday Meal Kit Meals includes: 
4 lunches
4 breakfast
Snack items

Sample Meal Kit

Sample entrees include:
Warm Lunch – Bosco Sticks, Cheeseburger, Chicken Sandwich
Cold Lunch – Various Individually wrapped sandwiches
Heat at home Lunch – Chicken nuggets, chicken tenders, drumsticks, taco snack burritos, pasta bowls & MORE!
Cold Breakfast – Cereal with milk
Heat-at-home Breakfast – Pancakes, cinnamon rolls & MORE!

Sample side items include:
Fresh fruit – Oranges, apples, grapefruit
Cup of fruit –Peaches, pears
Fresh Veggie –Celery, carrots, broccoli 
Warm side – Baked beans, steamed broccoli, corn
Heat-at-home sides – curly fries

Additional Food Resources in Klein ISD

Backpack Buddies
In addition to continuing to serve meals via curbside pickup, Klein ISD’s big yellow buses will be visiting the following neighborhoods on Tuesdays during school closures to pass out backpacks full of food from the Houston Food Bank and printed lesson plans from Klein ISD.

  • A Klein ISD student must be present to receive a backpack and lessons.
  • For the health and safety of all, physical distancing protocols will be strictly enforced.
  • The bus will stay at each stop until all food is distributed.

Neighborhood Feeding Super Site – Klein Collins High School

Klein Collins High School, 20811 Ella Blvd., is now serving as a Houston Food Bank Neighborhood Super Site.

The Super Site is open every Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. Although signing up for a time slot beforehand can reduce your wait time, it is not required. For more information and to sign up for a time slot, click HERE.

Please note, anyone coming to pick up food at the Super Site must enter Southbound on Ella/Falvel Rd.
