Update #1: Roadmap to Reopening Klein ISD

Update #1: Roadmap to Reopening Klein ISD

Dear Klein ISD Community:

As we begin the summer months, I hope that you and your family are safe and healthy. We ended the 2019-2020 school year in a much different way than we could have ever anticipated. Throughout this challenging time, our entire Klein community did what we do best—coming together in times of need to take good care of one another. Families inspired us as they worked to support their children’s education while fulfilling numerous other responsibilities, and students amazed us with their resilience in the face of unprecedented challenges. I am grateful for each of your acts of community care. We will always accomplish more when we work together.

There is certainly no doubt that COVID-19 dramatically changed all of our lives, with some members of our community experiencing significant disruption to their physical, mental, and economic well-being. Nonetheless, members of our Klein community continue to rise to the challenge, persevering in uncertain times.

As we continue to prepare for the 2020-2021 school year, which is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, August 19, 2020, we are working diligently to design the Roadmap to Reopening Klein ISD. We will determine how to continue to fulfill our educational mission during the 2020-2021 school year, even in the face of continued uncertainty and challenges.

No matter what happens, we are committed to the health and wellness of staff and students, excellent and equitable student learning experiences, and safe operation of all our facilities.

As part of our preparation for the opening of schools for the 2020-2021 school year, we need to hear your feedback. Please fill out this 3-question survey by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2020.

Please be assured that our goal is to welcome students back with full programming as soon as possible and that Klein ISD will be ready for a safe and successful school year.  Given the ambiguity we all face, we remain committed to frequently communicating regarding the information that we do know as we plan for back to school.

Our commitment to community care, regardless of circumstances, includes continuing to work to meet the academic, physical health, and mental wellness needs of our students. We are the Klein Family, and we are committed to helping families, employees, and the broader community thrive, not just endure, as we meet our challenges to welcome our students back for the new school year.
