Klein ISD Senior Scholar Spotlight – #9
We are so proud of our Klein ISD Class of 2020! Graduates from each of our five high schools have accomplished amazing things and are chasing their dreams.
Although the 2019-2020 school year has concluded, we want to continue to introduce our Klein Family to some of our high-achieving graduates who not only showed great commitment to their academic growth but also their personal growth as well. Because of this, they surely left behind a strong legacy!
Klein High Senior Scholar Spotlight – Melinda Chen
Klein High graduate Melinda Chen is a proud product of Klein ISD, having attended Klein ISD from her early childhood years to graduating in the top 10 percent of the Bearkat Class of 2020.
“This district has shaped me into the person I am today,” she said.
Melinda was an active member of various campus and community organizations during her high school years. She participated in National Honor Society, Orchestra, Science National Honor Society, and Computer Science Club, while also volunteering regularly at the Barbara Bush Library. Melinda also became a National Merit Commended Scholar, which we all know is a tremendous achievement!
“I’m grateful to all my classmates and teachers who have helped me along the way,” she said.
This fall, Melinda will attend Texas A&M University. She plans to obtain her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the university in data science.

Klein Forest Senior Scholar Spotlight – Alivia Souvanna
Klein Forest top 10 percent graduate Alivia Souvanna will attend the University of Houston this fall.
During her time as a Golden Eagle, Alivia participated in Track and Field, Yearbook, Newspaper, Student Council, Computer Science Club, and the Criminal Justice Club. She also received many recognitions from Scholastic Art and Writing for her poetry and essay competition entries.
“Klein ISD has provided a strong foundation for me to succeed in my college career as well as life,” she said.

Klein Oak Senior Scholar Spotlight – Zoe Uehlinger
Klein Oak graduate Zoe Uehlinger graduated in the top 10 percent of the Panther Class of 2020, but that’s just one of her many accomplishments!
Zoe served as co-captain of the Klein Oak Varsity Swim team and was a Junior Coach for the Northampton Cudas while also participating in National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. She also became a National Merit Commended Scholar and volunteered countless hours to many well-known community organizations – wow!
“My time in Klein ISD taught me how to get out of my comfort zone and push myself to be the best I can be,” she said. “My Klein ISD experiences prepared me for getting into the college of my dreams.”
This fall, Zoe will attend Texas A&M University to study mechanical engineering.

Klein Collins Senior Scholar Spotlight – Kade Trujillo
Klein Collins top 10 percent graduate Kade Trujillo will attend Texas A&M University this fall to study engineering.
During his time as a Tiger, Kade played football and was even named a Class 6A Finalist for the 2020 Sportsmanship of the Year Award from the Touchdown Club of Houston for the 2019 football season, showing his commitment to excellence without compromise on and off the field.
Kade also participated in National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Latin Club, and the infamous Mr. Collins Pageant.
“My time at Klein Collins was filled with a lot of hard work based on the high expectations set forth by my teachers and coaches, but it also was full of good times with amazing friends,” he said. “I truly appreciate how much my teachers and coaches cared for and encouraged me during my years at KC.”
We can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you, Kade!
Klein Cain Senior Scholar Spotlight – George Fakes
Klein Cain history-making scholar George Fakes graduated in the top 10 percent of the inaugural class of 2020.
George participated in the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Klein Cain eSports, Orchestra, Academic Decathlon, HOSA, Principal’s Advisory Council, and Asian American Club. He held various leadership positions within these organizations and even organized and volunteered with KleinHacks, Klein ISD’s student-run day of hacking!
“Klein ISD and Klein Cain have provided me with experiences and memories that will last a lifetime,” he said.
This fall, George will attend the University of St. Thomas to major in biology.
