Klein ISD Senior Scholar Spotlight – #10

We are so proud of our Klein ISD Class of 2020! Graduates from each of our five high schools have accomplished amazing things and are chasing their dreams. 

Although the 2019-2020 school year has concluded, we want to continue to introduce our Klein Family to some of our high-achieving graduates who not only showed great commitment to their academic growth but also their personal growth as well. Because of this, they surely left behind a strong legacy! 

Klein High Senior Scholar Spotlight – Tara Vathul

Klein High School graduate Tara Vathul graduated from the campus as a National Merit Commended Scholar. 

The Bearkat participated in HOSA, National Honor Society, Puzzle Club, and Science National Honor Society. Additionally, she received two Silver Medals from Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for writing and was a District Finalist for the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program. 

“My time in Klein ISD has taught me great lessons about leadership, education, and service,” she said. “It also instilled a passion for learning that I will continue to pursue in my future.” 

This fall, Tara will attend the University of Texas at Austin to major in biochemistry with plans to attend medical school. 

We are so proud of you, Tara!

Klein Forest Senior Scholar Spotlight – Syed Hussain

Klein Forest top 10 percent graduate Syed Hussain will attend The University of Texas at Austin to pursue a degree in medicine this fall. 

This Golden Eagle explored countless STEM opportunities during his time as a Golden Eagle. He participated in the Science and Engineering Fair of Houston and Business Professionals of America and became a State Qualifier in Computer Security.

He also volunteered with many community organizations and causes, constantly showing a “we not me” attitude. 

We know you will accomplish great things, Syed! 

Klein Oak Senior Scholar Spotlight – Vishal Setlur

Klein Oak Class of 2020 graduate Vishal Setlur completed rigorous coursework during his Panther career to earn the esteemed International Baccalaureate degree and graduated in the top 10 percent of his graduating class. 

Vishal participated in French Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. Additionally, he became a PSAT National Merit Commended Scholar and volunteered with many community organizations including the Barbara Bush Library. 

“I am extremely grateful to have had such wonderful teachers who have developed my passion to learn and have taught me valuable lessons along my journey through high school.”

This fall, Vishal will attend the University of Texas at Austin to major in Chemical Engineering. 

Klein Collins Senior Scholar Spotlight – Megha Sengupta

Klein Collins graduate Megha Sengupta will attend The University of Texas at Austin this fall to major in business and minor in psychology. She also plans to attend law school at the conclusion of her undergraduate studies! 

During her time as a Tiger, Megha participated in DECA – she even became an  international finalist and served as Vice President! She also honed her leadership skills by serving as Vice President of Drama Club and participating in National Honor Society. 

“Klein ISD has allowed me to explore my passions and develop my interests,” she said. “In addition, the support of the amazing teachers and peers will carry with me throughout college and into my career.”

Klein Cain Senior Scholar Spotlight – Linden Settles

Klein Cain graduate Linden Settles is a history-making scholar who graduated in the top 10 percent of the inaugural Hurricane Class of 2020. 

During his time at Klein Cain, Linden participated in Klein Cain Band as a member of the Wind Ensemble, Drumline, Pit Orchestra, and Full Orchestra. He also participated in National Honor Society, Math National Honor Society, SkillsUSA, and served as a College Board Opportunity Ambassador. 

This fall, Linden will attend the University of Texas at Arlington to pursue a degree in Aerospace Engineering. 

Klein Cain Senior Scholar Spotlight – Robert Carney

Klein Cain Class of 2020 graduate Robert Carney graduated in the top 10 percent of the high school’s inaugural Hurricane class.

Robert participated in SkillsUSA mobile robotics through his high school career as well as Hack Club and National Honor Society. He also dedicated his summers to teaching coding to elementary-aged students! 

“Klein Cain allowed me to pursue my interests and learn more than I ever would have imagined,” he said. 

This fall Robert will attend the University of Texas at Austin to major in electrical engineering.
