Klein ISD Schools Celebrate National School Lunch Week

Blast off with a healthy school lunch!

To recognize the National School Lunch Program, serving nearly 30 million children each day, Klein ISD schools will celebrate National School Lunch Week from October 12-16, 2020.

This year’s theme, “Blast Off with a Healthy School Lunch,” highlights the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child’s life.

“School lunches offer students fruits and vegetables, whole grains and milk, and meet federal nutrition standards limiting fat, calories, and sodium,” Klein ISD Menu Planner and Dietitian Kate Gillihan said. “National School Lunch Week helps us educate parents and students about all the wonderful benefits of our lunch program.”

This week featured items include:

The federally-funded National School Lunch Program (NSLP) has been fueling students for success for more than 70 years. Students can enjoy the convenience of a healthy school lunch for free through December thanks to USDA waiver extensions.

Parents and students can follow the fun using the hashtags #NSLWKlein, #NSLW2020, and #SchoolLunch.
