Klein Cain Student Council Hosts Hurricane Laura Relief Drive

Klein Cain Student Council Hosts Hurricane Laura Relief Drive

Klein Cain students showed up to serve in a mighty way at the Student Council “Storm of Service” Hurricane Laura Relief Drive.

The high school’s student council hosted the school-wide relief drive for Vinton High School, a Louisiana school that had sustained significant damage from Hurricane Laura.

“After everything that has happened this year, we know that school is a constant for us. Although our school year did not start with everyone together, we are still together in some way,” said Antoinette Hernandez, the Student Council advisor. “Unfortunately, Vinton does not have this constant like us, so anything we can do to help them is what we wanted to do.”

With the efforts of the Klein Cain Student Council and Klein ISD community, Principal Nicole Patin and her staff arrived at Vinton High School in Louisiana. They met Principal Eric Heinen with a trailer packed full of clothes, food, water, toiletries, cleaning supplies, pet supplies, school supplies, household appliances, toys, and more for the students and families of Vinton High.

“My students have hearts as big as Texas and the most amazing servant hearts I have ever seen,” Klein Cain Principal Nicole Patin said. “What they were able to accomplish and provide for Vinton High School was nothing short of amazing.”

Three years previously, thanks to the outpouring of love from the Klein ISD community, Klein Cain students and faculty were able to embrace Lemm Elementary and their Lions on campus following Hurricane Harvey.  This time, the Klein Cain community was grateful to welcome some Louisiana Lions from Vinton High School.

“I think this is a great way to bring the community together,” said StuCo President Madison Phathavong. “And I think that Vinton, Louisiana, will be very thankful for it.”

Special thanks to Antoinette Hernandez (Klein Cain STUCO sponsor), Klein Cain Student Council, the Klein Cain Football team, for the use of their trailer and donations to the drive, as well as Klein Cain athletics departments, clubs and organizations, faculty & staff, families and community members who made donations.

Way to go, Klein Cain StuCo and Klein Cain High School! The way you serve others in need inspires us all to be better members of our community.
