Klein ISD Student Artwork Selected for Statewide Exhibit
Each year, the Texas Association of School Administrators & Texas Association of School Boards (TASA/TASB) collaborate to produce their fall conference. This conference is designed to create a transformative experience for school board members, superintendents, and other school leaders that improves governance and leadership in Texas public schools and enhances statewide support for public education. The annual TASA/TASB conference attracts school board members, superintendents, and district administrators from all over Texas and is the largest convening of Texas public education policymakers.
As part of their art advocacy work, the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) presents an exhibit of pre-K through 12th-grade original student artwork from across the state of Texas. Each district is assigned a quota based on the size of enrollment in that district. As a large district, Klein ISD may send up to eight entries. As part of the rigorous visual arts program expectations in Klein, each teacher chooses and digitally submits a piece of student artwork to represent their campus. A group of independent people then determines the final eight pieces to represent Klein ISD at the fall conference exhibit. Fine Arts then registers those pieces with TAEA, pays the entrance fee, packages, and ships the artwork to the TAEA representative. Participation in the TASA/TASB exhibit is also one of the criteria necessary for the District of Distinction award.
This year, TASA/TASB held their conference and exhibit virtually.
