Haude Elementary Honors Veterans in Flag Planting Activity
Haude Elementary students, both online and on-campus, planted American flags in the front of their school on Tuesday as a show of support and gratitude for the U.S. Veterans of the past, and those who are currently still courageously serving.
This is a tradition that is many years in the making for Haude, with this year’s event looking a little different due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Where in years past, students would gather all together and place all the flags at once in front of the school. However, this year, students made adjustments and trickled in throughout the day to plant their flag with the hope to encourage social distancing.
Klein Online student and Boy Scout, Ben, was looking forward to planting his flag in honor of Veterans this year. His father accompanied him and talked of how Ben has planted a flag his first four years at Haude Elementary, and felt planting it this year as a fifth grader was the perfect way to top off his time at the elementary school.
“We hope from participating in this activity that our students can appreciate the sacrifice our veterans have made for them, and for helping them have a safe world to grow up in and pursue their liberties and dreams,” Haude Principal Rachel Wall said.
Here in Klein ISD we honor our Veterans. Haude Elementary students and staff would like to thank our Veterans for their service in the video linked below.
