Klein Police Department Donates to Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive

The Klein ISD Police Department made a significant difference in the lives of several Klein Community members this week in their donation of 20 complete Thanksgiving meals and 50 turkeys.

The Klein PD “Friends in Giving” Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive originated as an idea from KPD Chief David Kimberly and Community Engagement Supervisor Corporal Jones to thank and aid those in need who have been impacted significantly from the effects of COVID-19.

“The Klein ISD Police Department and I personally cannot begin to express our gratitude for the generosity of the Klein ISD Community and beyond,” Kimberly said. “Our community is always quick to jump in and help each other. It is just another example of what makes Klein so special.”

The Klein ISD Police Department Community Outreach team is always looking for ways to serve the Klein ISD community and its staff and students.

After creating a flyer and getting the word out about the drive, KPD put a collection box in the lobby of the Police Department.  Within hours donations started to roll in.

Some donations were actual food items, and many were monetary. KPD quickly reached their goal for the 20 meals but kept going raising money for as many additional turkeys as they could.

The police department ended up raising almost enough for 50 more turkeys and made up the difference from the community engagement team’s savings.

The spirit of giving and service from our Klein Police Department to several of our community members is so appreciated!
