Klein Oak Baseball Honors Kailee Mills Foundation on Gear

Klein Oak Baseball has shown up to support the Kailee Mills Foundation in a special way.

Coach Bo Hernandez and his team have partnered with the Kailee Mills Foundation to have the Foundation’s ribbon symbol embroidered onto the player’s ball caps and printed on baseball helmets.

This idea originated when the team was searching for a way to still serve the community without actually “going out” into the community due to the pandemic. Klein Oak baseball believes in serving the community in many ways that will benefit students within Klein ISD.

Coach Bo Hernandez received an email from the Kailee Mills Foundation inviting the team to their golf tournament. Since the program was not able to have fundraisers last year the team wasn’t able to give financially like in previous years, but still wanted to show their support to the foundation in a different way.

“I wanted to bring awareness to our players, opponents, and fans that would be supporting Klein Oak baseball,” Hernandez said. “I asked if it would be okay if we honored the Foundation and Kailee through our team bringing awareness by wearing the decal on our hats and helmets. They loved the idea!”

Hernandez and his family firmly believe in the importance and mission of the Kailee Mills Foundation. Living in the same neighborhood as the Mills family and with both Coach Hernandez and his wife being educators, the foundation’s cause is close to their home and their hearts.

Mr. Eric Endecott, a longtime friend to the Mills family, also spoke to the team about the importance of wearing a seatbelt and shared first-hand the monumental impact Kailee’s accident had on the community.

“I know our high school students are beginning to drive and need to understand the importance of seat belts,” Hernandez said. The Kailee Mills Foundation allows our students to relate and understand the importance of their daily decisions, and how it can impact not only their life but their loved ones as well.”

The Klein Oak baseball team appreciates the honor of wearing the Kailee Mills Foundation ribbon on their team gear and highlighting the important cause of this organization and the beloved memory of Kailee Mills.
