Klein High Volleyball Advances to State After Defeating Flower Mound

Klein High Volleyball Advances to State After Defeating Flower Mound

The Klein High Bearkats will play for the UIL 6-A Volleyball state championship title against Seven Lakes High School Saturday, December 12.

The Bearkats advanced to state after defeating the Flower Mound Jaguars 3-0 in Tuesday night’s state semifinal game.

The first set was a real nail biter with Klein down early to Flower Mound. After taking hit after hit from Flower Mound, Klein rallied late in the set to take it 29 to 27.

Set 2 started off with a lead by the Bearkats, but Flower Mound answered with a strong defense. As the Bearkat crowd grew anxious, the Kats took a timeout to regroup.

Coming back renewed and centered, the Bearkats went on a rally to come up 26 to 24 in Set 2.

Set 3 was all about Klein Volleyball with the team sweeping the set with a 6-point advantage over Flower Mound. They took the set 25 to 19 over Flower Mound to clinch the game and the state semifinal title.

Coach Kate Zora knew this couldn’t be done without the entire Klein community rallying around the Bearkat volleyball team.

“The community support means a lot to our team,” Coach Zora said, “The girls are appreciative of it, and they really want to make everyone proud.”

Looking forward to the state match, Zora commended the team on the work they have put in so far.

“It was so exciting to see the girls play so hard,” she said. “There were lots of nerves at the frontend, but this team has grit. I am so happy for them. We are going to finish this out!”

The Varsity Volleyball team has had an overwhelmingly successful season. The team secured an undefeated record, ranked 38th nationally, and 4th in the state of Texas. It is no wonder these talented athletes are state championship bound.

Best of luck to these wonderful student-athletes! Your Klein Family is behind you!
