Klein Cain & Klein Forest HS Awarded $15,000 for Audio/Video Production Grant
The Klein ISD Education Foundation, community members, and Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown masked-up and climbed aboard the Celebration Express on December 10 and delivered large checks to grant recipients across the district.
The Klein ISD Education Foundation accepts grant applications twice a year to encourage, facilitate, and recognize creative projects that lead to academic achievement for our Klein ISD students.
Klein Cain and Klein Forest High School will use their $15,000 grant sponsored by architectural firm PBK to provide students daily classroom instructional materials for current and future Audio /Video Production students in this unique pathway. These courses constitute Klein ISD’s film production studio and stand as a separate creature from the journalism program. Courses in the AVP pathway are open to all interested Klein ISD high school students. As a CTE pathway, teaching and learning goals center around offering students career training and workplace experiences in film production.
Students will be involved in and challenged through a constant series of hands-on, student-created video projects over the course of the entire academic year, both on-campus and off. This year at least 32 students will benefit from this grant, but it will provide equipment and materials to sustain the program and continue to provide this opportunity for many future students.
“It’s such an honor to serve as the Director of the Klein ISD Education Foundation, and to be able to participate in such a great day of giving,” KEF Director Christy Spisak said.
We are so grateful and proud to live and work in a district with a resource like the Klein ISD Education Foundation that supports our educators, who are continually challenging the norm and disrupting the status quo.
This fall, the Celebration Express delivered grants totaling $90,090 that will bring education to life for our learners. From a research and observation garden to WT2 translator earbuds, our Fall 2020 grant recipients are innovative, engaging, and inspirational.
Thank you so much to all our grant sponsors who made all this possible. Your giving contribution will help further the educational experience of every Klein ISD student.
