UPDATE 3

Dear Klein ISD Employees,

Klein ISD received another correspondence from Harris County Public Health this evening and we wanted to inform you of their message:

“Unfortunately at this time there are delays with vaccine shipments and we have not yet received the doses we were expecting. This means that there will have to be some cancellations to appointments made for this week, starting with appointments for tomorrow. We are currently awaiting additional supplies of vaccine which we expect to receive soon. Once we receive additional vaccine those appointments that are canceled will be reinstated as a priority and a link will be sent to reschedule those individuals. We wanted to make you all aware as I am sure you will receive some questions from your staff.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and stress this may cause.

Best,
Maria Rivera, MD MPH
Co-Lead for School Advisory Group
Nutrition and Chronic Disease Prevention Physician
Alternate Local Health Authority for Harris County”

UPDATE 2

Dear Klein ISD Employees,

Klein ISD received the following information from Harris County Public Health today and we wanted to inform you of their message:

“We appreciate your continued partnership during the COVID-19 response.

We wanted to alert you to the current situation as it relates to registering for the COVID-19 vaccine. At this moment we have taken down our registration site and paused all registrations. Unfortunately the link to register was shared broadly across the county and on social media, and a glitch in our system allowed some people that do not qualify to register for the COVID-19 vaccine at this time.

At this moment, Harris County Public Health still has a very limited supply of COVID-19 vaccine that has to be given based on a prioritization system. We are currently vaccinating individuals in Phase 1A and Phase 1B.

Criteria is defined by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services below as Phase 1 A, healthcare workers and other listed here (https://dshs.texas.gov/immunize/covid19/COVID_Vaccine_Principles_HCW_Definition.pdf) or Phase 1B, those that are above the age of 65 or have an underlying medical condition (https://dshs.texas.gov/coronavirus/immunize/vaccine/EVAP-Phase1B.pdf ). School nurses are included in Phase 1A. Teachers and other school staff do not qualify for Phase 1A or B unless they are over 65 or have an underlying condition. There is no qualification based solely on occupation unless specified under phase 1A.

At this time, anyone who registered for an appointment that does not meet criteria for Phase 1A or Phase 1B will have their appointment canceled. If they arrive at the site they will be asked if they meet criteria and if not, will unfortunately be turned away. This includes household members that may be in the same vehicle that do not meet criteria.

We request that this message please be shared with your staff. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any confusion or difficulties it may have caused.

Best,

Maria Rivera, MD MPH
Co-Lead for School Advisory Group
Nutrition and Chronic Disease Prevention Physician
Alternate Local Health Authority for Harris County”

If you have any questions about this information, please contact Harris County Public Health by phone at 713-439-6000.
