223 Scholastic Writing Awards Earned by Klein ISD Students
Hundreds of Klein ISD students from across the district have been recognized as Gold and Silver Key Scholastic Writing Award Winners for 2021. Klein ISD has 78 Gold Key Winners from 10 schools and 145 Silver Key Winners from 11 schools.
The Scholastic Writing Awards are among the most prestigious writing awards in the nation. Klein ISD students submit their writing to the contest each year and receiving recognition for Scholastic Writing is not at all new to Klein ISD. Students advance to the national level every year, and Klein ISD has a history of its own national Gold Key winners.
“I am so proud of the accomplishment of these talented student-writers,” said Dr. Jenny McGown, Klein ISD Superintendent. “It is so exciting to see them utilize their academic skills and talents learned from our excellent teachers. I look forward to their continued success as they make Klein ISD proud and go on to compete at the national level.”
According to the Harris County Department of Education, schools submit students’ best writing to compete at the regional level. These entries are then judged by several panels of highly-qualified professionals who select either Gold Key, Silver Key, or Honorable Mention recipients. The Gold Key award recipients go on to compete at the national level. More than 1,500 students receive national awards each year.
