33 Klein ISD Destination Imagination Teams Advancing to Lone Star Finals
During this year’s Destination Imagination North Harris Region competitions, teams from across the district broke records for the number of teams advancing to state as well as taking a clean sweep of the special awards for the first time.
DI is a problem-based and research competition that challenges teams to create a solution to one of seven different challenges (technical, scientific, fine arts, service learning, early learning, engineering, and improv).
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for social distancing, the competition was held virtually. Teams had to be creative in not only how they were going to solve the challenge, but also how they would record and edit their solution.
80 teams from the North Harris County region registered to compete from three different school districts. For the first time ever, Klein ISD has 33 teams invited to compete in the state tournament!
Klein ISD also took a clean sweep for the special awards this year. In all, 13 teams were recognized for going above and beyond their central challenge and received either the Davinci Award, Renaissance Award, or the Spirit of DI Award! In addition to these special recognitions, Fox Elementary’s Addison Mackey won the regional t-shirt student design.
A special shout out to all of the amazing Klein ISD DI team managers, appraisers, and families for another amazing regional tournament! A special thank you to Mr. Prentiss Harper and the Krimmel Knights for hosting the appraisers on tournament day!
