Klein Forest Boys Soccer Breaks 35-Year Playoff Drought, Advances to Regional Semi-Finals

The curse has been broken! The Klein Forest Boys Varsity defeated Langham Creek 2-0 last Thursday in the third round of playoffs to advance to the regional semi-finals.

For the first time in 35 years, the Klein Forest Golden Eagles Boys Varsity team has advanced past the third round of the playoffs. The district champions were cut short from their season last year, so this year, they made sure to give it their all.

“These guys have incredible talent,” said Luis Ochoa, Klein Forest Soccer Assistant Varsity Coach. “We are fortunate to have a group of guys who are locked in and are not satisfied with being district champions.”

The Golden Eagles are excited to not only represent their school but the entire Klein ISD community as they make their way to Waco.

“Our main goal is to make it to the state finals,” said Dante Zavala, Klein Forest Senior and varsity center midfielder. “It means a lot for us to represent Klein ISD and we want to bring back a championship.”

The Klein Forest soccer program had some setbacks the past few years but they have emerged from them and are ready to give it their all.

“As a coach, I can’t emphasize how proud I am of this group of guys,” said Coach Roger Ramirez, Klein Forest Soccer Head Varsity Coach. “The passion they have is unmatched for Klein Forest is unmatched and we are all proud to be here.”

Klein Forest will play at Midway Panther Stadium on April 6, 2021, at 7:00 PM where they will face off against Rockwall-Heath for the regional semi-final title.

Congratulations to the Golden Eagles for advancing to the regional semi-finals, and we wish them a great game!
