Klein Collins Senior Receives $20,000 Coca-Cola Scholarship

Klein Collins High School Senior, Shania Hurtado, has big plans for her future. The National Honor Society President, Model United Nations Vice President, and President/Founder of Girl Up Klein Collins can now add Coca-Cola Scholar to her impressive list of credentials. 

Shania is one of the 150 students selected out of 99,000 nationwide applications to receive this esteemed honor and a generous $20,000 scholarship for college. 

“I am beyond honored to be recognized as a Coca-Cola Scholar. Words cannot describe my gratitude for this scholarship, especially as I will be traveling out of state to Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts in the fall,” said Shania Hurtado, Klein Collins High School Senior. “This honor is a product of my passion for serving my community and uplifting others, which I aim to continue in college and beyond.”

Shania and her fellow Coca-Cola scholars not only display superior leadership, service, and academics – they are agents promoting positive change within their communities.

In addition to receiving college scholarships, Shania and the other Coca-Cola scholars will be part of a vibrant family of alumni that have become a powerful force for positivity in the world. Hurtado, who will be graduating from Klein Collins High School this year will continue her Education journey at Harvard College next fall. 

“Pursuing a career in engineering as a Latina, this scholarship will empower me to pursue graduate school and push for greater representation of women of color in engineering and STEM fields,” said Hurtado. “I can’t wait for the future, and I am so grateful to God and my family, friends, and teachers for supporting me throughout this journey!”
