Klein Collins Drama Students Awarded $12,000 in Scholarships

Klein Collins Drama and the cast and crew of Mamma Mia! thrilled audiences with their latest musical production, but they didn’t realize there would be a special surprise waiting for them after the final curtain call.
A representative from The New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts was in the audience and was so impressed with the cast and crew that he awarded every member a $1,000 scholarship for admission into the NYC Conservatory of Dramatic Arts’ Summer Intensive Training Program.
Klein Collins Drama Director Robin Welch had previously invited the representative to watch the production, but she was not expecting this generous outcome.
“It is always rewarding to see our students put their all into every show,” said Robin Welch, Klein Collins Drama Director. “To see them come together during this challenging time and to be rewarded by the New York Conservatory for their hard work on Mamma Mia! is remarkable.”
The New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts’ Summer Intensive Training Program is not without its prestige. The summer program consists of a 4-week session where actors receive valuable skill-building experience in Acting or Musical Theater. Students involved in the program can attend the classes in person at the New York City Campus or virtually via Zoom.
In a lot of ways putting on Mamma Mia! was a healing process for the Drama students. The students were thankful to put on a show and to have a shred of normalcy during such an uncertain time. Even though the student actors wore masks, and the audience was at half-capacity and socially distanced, it was a joy for them to put on the show.
Congratulations to these talented Klein Collins Drama students. It is so rewarding to see the time and energy you have put into this musical production be returned tenfold. We know you will go far in all you do!
