Shania Hurtado, Klein Collins High Valedictorian – 2021 Senior Spotlight
Klein Collins Valedictorian Shania Hurtado may be wrapping up her time at Klein Collins High, but she leaves behind a legacy of excellence and top-tier achievement.
This Klein Collins scholar has served others at her school through programs and extracurricular activities such as Chamber Orchestra, National Honor Society, Model United Nations, and Klein Collins Girl Up.
Shania leads the Tiger pack in her volunteer service hours and has dedicated her time as a Girl Up Teen Advisor, National Honor Society President, Southeast Texas Coalition Leader, Girl Up Klein Collins Founder and President, Vice President of Model United Nations, Youth Juror for UN Women’s Women Empowerment Principals Award, Congressional Intern for Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29), and more!
She has earned several accolades and awards over her tenure at Klein Collins as well. These include Model United Nations: Best Delegate Award at Rice University MUN & Houston Area MUN, National Hispanic Scholar, “20 Under 20 Young Innovators Who Are Changing the World” – Diversity in Action Magazine, Scholastic Art & Writing Award National & Regional Recipient.
“During my time in high school I discovered the power of education and how I can use it to better my community,” said Shania. “Through connecting with teachers and building friendships I found my passion for serving others and inspiring others to take action and change the world.”
Once Shania graduates from Klein Collins she will be on her way to Harvard University where she will study either Electrical Engineering or Physics.
Shania’s dedication to service and academic drive as she exits with a purpose reminds us that our learners are truly remarkable. Your Klein Family will always be cheering you on, Shania!
