Klein Cain Robotics Team Takes First Place in State Competition
The Klein Cain Robotics team placed first in the TSA VEX Robotics competition bringing back the State title to the school!
“This win isa testament to their hard work all year long,” said Joe Malchar, CTE-Engineering/Robotics teacher. “These students exceeded expectations. They went out of their way to find ways to succeed in this competition, and I couldn’t be more proud of them!”
The team that won the state title consists of senior Wyatt Ferguson and juniors Alex Etienne and Brian Green. These students initially started the design process for this competition in June of 2020, spending countless hours on Zoom meetings and during late nights drafting ideas to create the perfect robot, “Goose,” for this competition.
“We entered school in August somewhat knowing what we wanted to do,” said Wyatt Ferguson, Klein Cain senior and coder. “We had flaws throughout the building process, but we overcame them. I couldn’t have done it without this team.”
This team collected 94 points in the district competition, which placed them first in that competition. At the state competition, they had 233 points, sealing them a win.
The Hurricanes took first place at the regional level against 15 teams advancing to State, competing against 50 other teams.
Klein ISD is proud of the Klein Cain robotics team for placing first in the State competition! Reign Cain!
