Klein ISD Family Engagement Initiative Graduates 177 Parents
Today, 177 Klein ISD parents and family members graduated from Parent University, signifying their unwavering commitment and dedication to their students and their educational success.
As part of an award-winning Family Engagement program, Parent University originated at Klein Intermediate in the 2013-2014 school year. Parent University has since grown as more families realize the positive impact that active family involvement in education has on a learner’s journey and, ultimately, their achievement.
“This is an exciting moment for us to continue celebrating the excellence we’re known for in Klein ISD when it comes to our award-winning Family Engagement program, and I’m so grateful for the incredible people in our great school district who cherish the involvement of the family in the lives of our students at every level of their education,” said Dr. Jenny McGown, Klein ISD Superintendent.
The 2021 Parent University graduating class consisted of participants from Benfer Elementary, Blackshear Elementary, Eiland Elementary, Epps Island Elementary, Grace England Early Childhood Center, Greenwood Forest Elementary, Kaiser Elementary, Klein Forest High School, Klein Intermediate, Klein Oak High School, Klenk Elementary, Mahaffey Elementary, McDougle Elementary, Mittelstadt Elementary, Nitsch Elementary, and Wunderlich Intermediate.
“Being able to participate in Parent University has helped me to make meaningful partnerships with the school, teachers, and community,” said Olga Suarez, Kaiser Elementary Parent University Graduate. “I do not have enough words to express my gratitude for the great support and help the program provided so I can be an agent of change for the wellness of my children.”
Of the 2021 graduating class, 60 participants proudly received a Master’s distinction for going above and beyond in their coursework.
Congratulations to these wonderful graduates for seeing their efforts through to the end and continuing to empower their students from promise to purpose!View photos from today’s event in our Flickr album!
