Klein ISD Launches Early College High School, Inaugural Class Inducted

Thirty-four 8th grade students from across Klein ISD were inducted into the Vistas Early College High School as part of Cohort 2025.

Vistas Early College High School is a partnership between Klein ISD and Lone Star College-University Park. The program offers students an opportunity to complete a high school diploma and earn up to 60 college hours towards an associate’s degree at no cost to the student or their family.

Vistas Early College High School Induction

“I’m grateful for our continued, strong partnership with Lone Star College. It’s an honor to collaborate with our partners in higher education to bring unique opportunities to our secondary students, so they may earn college credit, including their associates degree, while earning high school credit,” said Superintendent Dr. McGown. “I look forward to seeing the many accomplishments from the students at Vistas Early College School cohort.”

This four-year pathway allows students to gradually integrate college coursework through a traditional high school degree plan, plus dual enrollment. This model increases college readiness, provides rigorous instruction and coursework and academic and social support by providing each student access to dual-credit teachers, college professors, mentors, and college advisors.

“Lone Star College-University Park is excited to expand our partnership with Klein ISD as we launch the Vistas Early College High School,” said Dr. Shah Ardalan, President of LSC-University Park. “This level of collaboration between our two award-winning entities will undoubtedly benefit students, parents, and the community. Every student will have access to our innovative, competent, and compassionate faculty, staff, and advisers as they complete their associate degree along with their high school diploma. Our graduates will be fully prepared for the next step in their journey, whether they pursue a bachelor’s degree or begin their career.”

The inductees were honored during a ceremony where they met with Vistas ECHS staff and were inspired by a message from Principal Debbie Pennington.

“Look at the students to your left and your right. You are now bonded together for the next four years as each of you explores your passions to find your purpose through this esteemed college-preparation pathway,” said Pennington. “Four years from now, we will look back and celebrate your successes through your time at Vistas ECHS that the 34 of you have made as the inaugural cohort.”

We look forward to the success of this first cohort of our Early College High School students in Klein ISD.
