Klein ISD Students Shine in ‘Chopped’ Style Competition

Klein ISD Students Shine in ‘Chopped’ Style Competition

The enticing scent of fresh burgers and fries wafted down the hallways as several Intermediate students were hard at work competing in a “Chopped” style cooking competition.

The remarkable aspiring chefs were part of an ongoing summer program for intermediate school students. The group, which meets during the week for about two hours, focuses on students learning a new life skill each summer. This year, the task at hand was cooking. The students were excited to hone their skills in the kitchen while picking up some handy tricks along the way.

CYS 2021 Summer Chopped Competition

“The benefit of the summer cooking club is to teach the students important life skills,” said Lori Cook, Youth Services Specialist. “We always enjoy hosting this summer program, and this is the fun activity we decided to do this year.”

The students, eager to compete in the competition, split into three groups and put their talent and quick thinking to the test to make delicious homemade burgers and fries for the win.

Three burgers were tasted and only one reigned victorious. Nonetheless, each student left the club that day with a sense of accomplishment, a certificate, and a Chick-fil-a free entree card. Way to go, students! We can’t wait to see what you cook up next!
