Power Up for the PSAT

Power Up for the PSAT

It’s PSAT season in Klein ISD. To kickstart this important season for our secondary students, Klein ISD Advanced Academics Director Kathleen Plott will be hosting a Facebook Live event. Ms. Plott is a very skilled and knowledgeable leader who knows many tips and suggestions to effectively prepare students for their test preparation, as well as exam insight.

All students in grades 9-11 will take the PSAT on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. The Facebook Live PSAT prep event will be held on August 26, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. We know there are many questions surrounding this very important exam from families and students alike, so we want to take this opportunity to make sure that everyone is confident and fully equipped to crush this test!

Here’s a preview of what you can expect during our live Facebook event–make sure you tune in on Thursday, August 26 at 7 p.m. for more!

Did you know?

  • PSAT does NOT stand for “Practice SAT.” The official title of this test is PSAT/NMSQT, which stands for Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test and National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. This means that to become a National Merit Scholar and receive scholarship money, you must do well on the PSAT – although it’s always a good idea to try your best on every test!
  • Answering a question wrong doesn’t count against you; you simply aren’t awarded any points for that question. When in doubt, try your best guess. It can’t hurt you, and it can only help you (on this specific test!)
  • Taking the PSAT (and taking it seriously!) gives you a general feel for the layout of the test and types of questions asked.
  • This will allow you to gauge your strengths and weaknesses to identify where you can improve.

If you can’t join us for the Facebook Live event, don’t worry! We will be sure to record and post it on Klein ISD social media. For more in-depth information about the PSAT, visit
