Superintendent Dr. McGown Recognized as TMEA Distinguished Administrator

The Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) is celebrating Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown for being named a TMEA Distinguished Administrator.

The TMEA executive board created the Distinguished Administrator designation to honor school administrators who have been instrumental in preserving quality music education programs on their campuses and in their districts. Especially given the ever-present fiscal demands and focus on standardized test results, TMEA has an even greater appreciation for Dr. McGown’s commitment to providing a high-quality, well-rounded learning experience for the talented students in Klein ISD.

“It means the world to me to see how involved and dedicated Dr. McGown is investing in and upholding our tradition of excellence in Fine Arts for our students district-wide,” said Creston Herron, Klein ISD Director of Fine Arts. “I can think of no better leader to carry the torch of celebration for Fine Arts than our beloved Superintendent Dr. McGown.”

Since 1920, TMEA has been committed to promoting excellence in music education. The organization wholeheartedly believes that Texas is home to the best music educators and best music programs in the nation and is well aware that their successes would not be possible without the strong support of administrators like Dr. McGown.

“The recognition of Dr. McGown as a TMEA Distinguished Administrator does not come as a surprise to the Fine Arts staff she leads and supports year after year in Klein ISD. It is clear that music and the arts are valued by all Klein ISD stakeholders, and Dr. McGown leads that charge,” said Austin Dean, Klein Cain High School Director of Choirs. “Dr. McGown’s commitment to preserving quality Music Education experiences for all students is yet another reason why Klein ISD is a wonderful place to teach and learn.”

Klein ISD remains at the forefront of Fine Arts and was recently named Best Community for Music Education for the 10th Straight Year, District of Distinction by the Texas Art Education Association as well as the class of 2021 earning over $3 million in fine arts scholarships. Congratulations to our superintendent Dr. McGown and all the incredibly talented fine arts students and educators in Klein ISD. We are grateful for the unwavering support of families who have students involved in the distinguished fine arts programs of Klein ISD.
