Service – A Message from Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown

Dear Klein Family,

It’s hard to believe that we’ve already completed our first few weeks of school. The engagement of our students in their learning, the excitement of fall sports, and coming back together as the Klein Family have been awesome, even with the continued challenges we face as a community. As we settle into the routine of the new school year, I always remember how special September is for our community and nation as we commemorate Patriot Day.

In Klein ISD, we will never forget 9/11, not only the horror caused by terrorists but also the incredible heroism and patriotism that revealed the fierceness of our American spirit in action. As superintendent of schools, I want every graduate of Klein ISD to have a deep respect for our country, a commitment to participate in the beautiful democracy that is the world’s beacon of hope, and values-driven leadership as a core part of his or her purpose.

Dr. Jenny McGown

In support of this commitment, Klein ISD’s outstanding Board of Trustees passed a resolution encouraging our community to express gratitude for those we tragically lost 20 years ago and for those who protect us, not only on Patriot Day, but every day.

I sincerely admire the selfless acts of service that are deeply rooted in our Klein Family’s tradition of excellence, and I have been filled with pride to see beautiful acts of patriotism from our students across the district. From writing letters to first responders to proudly displaying flags and hosting freedom parades, our students continue to honor our great nation.

I’d also like to give special thanks to Klein Oak High School’s Air Force JROTC, color guard, band, and choir for their beautifully moving Patriot Day tribute this year.

Every single day I wake up grateful for our incredible community and country. I extend my gratitude to each of you for your commitment to being of service to our Klein Family, to our community, and to our great nation.
