Klein ISD Honored as 2021 TAEA District of Distinction

Klein ISD Honored as 2021 TAEA District of Distinction

The Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) recently announced that Klein ISD is once again a District of Distinction for 2021.

Klein ISD received this honor for providing a well-rounded education that advocates and integrates visual arts curriculum to inspire creativity and reach a variety of learners.

“Our Klein ISD Fine Arts Department was named a 2021 TAEA District of Distinction for the 3rd year in a row! Out of over 1,100 Texas districts, we were one of 41 districts presented with this honor,” said Creston Herron, Klein ISD Director of Fine Arts. “We are extremely proud of the incredible work our visual arts teachers pour into their students and their passion every day!”

This is the third year that TAEA, the leading advocate for the visual arts in the state, is honoring districts around Texas as Districts of Distinction. Klein ISD has been recognized each year.

“I am so excited that Klein ISD has been named a TAEA District of Distinction once again. This award is a testament to our talented, hardworking visual arts teachers and students,” said Dr. McGown, Klein ISD Superintendent. “I am continually impressed with our Fine Arts department’s commitment to arts education in the classroom and beyond, as they strive to promote visual arts in our community.”

For the 2021 award, more than 1,000 districts were eligible to apply. Only 41 districts statewide met the high standard and will receive the outstanding honor indicating they are in the top 4 percent of districts in the state.

“We are honored to have such incredible visual arts educators that care about their students as much as they care about their craft,” said Leah McWhorter, Klein ISD Assistant Director of Fine Arts. “Congratulations on continuing to lead arts advocacy and raising the bar for Klein Visual Arts standards!”

TAEA, the largest state professional organization for art educators in the United States, looked at field experiences, community service, and community exhibitions as part of the rigorous rubric for the award.

“Klein ISD has set a high standard for visual arts advocacy, integrated visual arts curriculum, encouraged creativity and community participation,” said Stacia Gower, Chair of the Administration and Supervision Division of TAEA. “With the challenges educators faced this past school year, it is a true testament to their skill, dedication, and the flexibility that the quality of their programs continued strong and comprehensive.”

Congratulations to the entire Klein ISD Fine Arts Department for this tremendous honor. Your #kleinfamily is proud of all of your continued accomplishments!
